Marc-Andre Fleury Reaches 1,000 Game Milestone

Marc-Andre Fleury became the fourth goalie in NHL history to play in 1,000 games on Sunday in the Minnesota Wild's game against the Winnipeg Jets.

Martin Brodeur (1,266 games), Roberto Luongo (1,044) and Patrick Roy (1,029) are the only goalies to have played in more games than the 39-year-old Fleury, who is in his third season with the Wild. He spent the bulk of his career in Pittsburgh, making 691 appearances in 13 seasons with the Penguins.

Avs' Samuel Girard To Play Sunday

Girard said he'll play Sunday at home against San Jose in his first game since Nov. 18. He entered the program on Nov. 24, citing anxiety and depression leading to alcohol abuse as the reason for seeking help.

Jaromir Jagr has made his ice hockey season debut at age 51 for his hometown Kladno Knights in the Czech league.

Jagr began his 36th professional season with an assist to help Kladno come back from 3-0 down at league leader Pardubice. Kladno eventually tied the score but conceded a short-handed goal to lose 4-3.

He skated for 13 minutes, 44 seconds. He didn't talk to reporters after the game, but coach Otakar Vejvoda called Jagr's contribution "excellent."

His return is expected to be a boost for Kladno, which is second to last on the table.

Plagued by a migraine disorder, Patrick last appeared in a game with the Vegas Golden Knights in March 2022.

Reports of his retirement surfaced Tuesday after The Power Play, a hockey coaching and mentorship program, announced his employment as a skills specialist and video coach in an Instagram post.

The post referred to Patrick as a "retired pro with significant NHL experience."

After his own fans booed him Thursday night in St. Louis, Blues star Jordan Kyrou apologized during an emotional postgame interview for comments he made about former coach Craig Berube.

Kyrou, 25, was booed when his name was announced in the starting lineup for the Blues' game against the Ottawa Senators. There were occasional boos when he touched the puck during the game as well.

"I definitely heard those," Kyrou said. "That's not easy, obviously, but I see where they're coming from. It's definitely tough. I love playing here. I love playing for these fans."
